Hong Kong Ginger Jar

SKU: PWJR7131BW10

This blue and white porcelain jar features the Chinese character for “Hong Kong,” each rendered in a unique calligraphy style. These variations honor the city’s rich history and celebrate the diverse generations and ethnicities that make Hong Kong a vibrant melting pot.

The ginger jar traces its origins back to the Qin Dynasty (221–207 BCE), when it was used to store spices such as salt, oil, and ginger. As ginger became a prized export to the Western world, these vessels came to be known as “ginger jars.”
