Han Flying Horse (L)

This Flying Horse with a lacquered wooden base is a representation of the original item from the Kansu province of the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). The flying swallow base symbolizes the speed and power of the horse, allowing it to straddle a bird in flight. This figure is currently the official insignia of the Government of China's National Tourism Association. This hand made figure is constructed of heavy walled brass that is sand casted, hand worked and chemically oxidized to bring out the natural patina, characteristic of oxidized brass.
