Ruyi Foliate Flower Ginger Jar
SKU:
PWJR7139BW

Blue and white ginger and cover, decorated with ruyi and foliate flower motifs, which symbolize power, peace and happiness.

The ginger jar originated in the days of the Qin Dynasty (221 BCE-207 BCE) as a storage receptacle for spices like salt, oil, and ginger. When ginger became a chief export to the Western world, the vessels in which it was stored and transported became known as “ginger jars.”

China and Porcelain both terms describe the same product. "China" comes from its origin Changnan (Tang Dynasty 618 to 907) and nowadays Jingdezhen (Northern Song Dynasty 960-1127), and the word "Porcelain" comes from the Portuguese word Porcelana.
